To begin with its good to limit your purchases to a few basic shapes and sizes and select the best quality your budget will allow. You can then add to your collection as your budget and progress indicates. A good starter set No.3 or 4 Round No.5/0 Long Liner ¼" and a ½" Flat Shader (sometimes referred to as a No.4 and a No.8) ¼" Angle Shader ¼" Deersfoot and perhaps a ¼" Filbert.
